This truck could actually be started with the clutch engaged if it were in first gear low range 4WD. Also, in the same gear it could idle up a hill!
One of the funnier experiences that I had with this truck was the first time it went in for the Illinois EPA test. The guy at the testing center seemed confused when his piece of pipe that he used for checking to make sure that the gas filler inlet was the right size actually fit in. This meant that I could put unleaded gas in a vehicle that was built after new cars were no longer allowed to run on leaded gas. When he asked me about it, all I said was, "It doesn't have a cat either." He had to get his boss to explain to him that it was technically a truck, and didn't fall under the same requirements as cars did back in 1976.
Age got the better of it with rust eating away at the body and other problems starting to get severe. While I originally intended to keep it as a winter vehicle after I bought the Mustang GT, I actually felt safer in the Mustang since it had brakes that worked and ABS.Here are a few pictures that were taken in the College of DuPage parking lot near their prairie restoration site.
